VENICE BIENNALE

THE EXPERIENCE

Venice, “La Serenissima” is a magical, jewel-like city unparalleled for its unique, labyrinthine configuration of bridges (400) linking islands (118), historic churches and collections. It has also always represented an ever changing and dynamic contemporary arts scene rooted in the Biennale d’Arte. Established in 1895, the Biennale was the first international, large-scale exhibition of its kind. Almost 100 years later the Biennale of Architecture bedazzled visitors with innovative installations focused on design, materials and craft not only in the original Biennale space but in the nearby Arsenale, a former shipbuilding yard. Today, both the Art and Architecture Biennale create beautiful activation city-wide.

We will explore the 20th International Architecture Exhibition. Beyond the Biennale we will explore history, art and crafts that are recognized world wide. Along with professor of modern and contemporary art, Jennie Hirsh, PhD, we will deliver a behind- the- scenes look at the artisan traditions that continue to attract worldwide attention and notoriety for their high level of craft.
