ROME

The Experience

This immersive 6 day experience invites you to encounter Rome in its many iterations: ancient, Baroque, today..

We will wander through Bernini’s grand piazzas, stand beneath the swirling domes of Borromini, and trace Caravaggio’s dramatic light and shadow in hushed chapels. From the fountains of Piazza Navona to the quiet elegance of the Borghese Gardens, this is Rome; grand, colorful, and alive.

We will contrast the ancient and the 17th century to contemporary Rome and the big names that once left and are currently leaving their mark on this unparalleled city. We will be led by experts, whether it is to the Galleria Doria Pamphilj or to the magnificent Fendi headquarters. We will enjoy memorable meals, Fashion house archives, a visit to Rome’s MAXXI contemporary art museum and much more.

With exclusive access to the city’s cultural treasures, you'll unwind each evening in a boutique hotel and enjoy meals that reflect the soul of Roman cuisine.

This is a thoughtfully paced program. While select meals are included, there will be opportunities to explore Rome’s vibrant culinary scene independently—with tailored recommendations from us for exploration and discovery.

Beyond art and history, there will be curated shopping experiences, featuring some of Rome’s finest artisans, boutiques and gallerists.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned Italophile, this journey is designed to leave you with a new vision of the inimitable Italian capitol city.

Two people are drinking from a fountain built into a brick wall. The fountain has a face with water flowing from its mouth, surrounded by a large circular frame with the word 'SPQR' inscribed on it.
Outdoor café on a cobblestone street with a historic, weathered building in the background. The building has cracked, faded brownish-red walls with wooden shutters, and a religious painting with ornate frame, along with graffiti and a chalkboard menu. Two people are sitting at a table, engaged in conversation.
A dark painting of Jesus Christ's crucifixion, with Jesus hanging on the cross, flanked by two men, some figures kneeling and supporting him, with dramatic lighting and shadows.
A display of fresh purple and green artichokes arranged in green plastic crates at an outdoor market, with vendors and customers in the background under tents.

Carpe Diem: Baroque to Bulgari

February 27 - March 5, 2026

$8,800

“Carpe diem,” meaning “seize the day,” comes to us from the Roman poet Horace—a timeless invitation to savor the present moment. It perfectly captures the spirit of this journey through the splendor of Baroque Rome.

Many of us have been lucky enough to visit the Eternal City or have at least dreamed of it. You may have seen St. Peter’s and the Colosseum but Riccio discoveries go deeper and highlight hidden treasures of Italian cities not available or accessible without insider knowledge and access.

Rome is a treasure trove of Baroque art and sculpture, a style that flourished in the 17th and early 18th centuries. From Bernini’s Saint Peter’s Square to Palazzo Barberini which is now home to the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica; from walking the beautiful Borghese Gardens to the extraordinary Palazzo Doria Pamphilj we will see significant paintings by Caravaggio, Artemisia Gentileschi and Raphael.

It doesn’t stop there! Modern day Rome is full of contemporary galleries, fashion houses and architecture. Join us for a new way to see the ancient city!

*Please note, the final itinerary will be sent 60 days prior to our departure.

To fully enjoy our time together you should be in good physical condition and comfortable with the following:

* guests should be able to walk or stand for several hours every day. We take breaks and have lunch but my trips involve a lot of walking. You must feel sure footed on cobbled streets and uneven pavements. If taxis are required due to physical limitations please understand this is the financial responsibility of the client.

* guests will have porter help with your luggage at hotels upon arrival and departure but should be able to manage your luggage until porters arrive which sometimes can mean getting your luggage to a central area of pick up.
