Proposed Highlights

Piedmont has some truly remarkable women shaping its wine, food and artisan culture.

Come along on a culinary and viticultural discovery of women makers in Piedmont with a 2 night intro in the elegant city of Turin; Italy’s first capital in 1861 after the country’s unification. As a political and intellectual center since 1563, Turin boasts a rich cultural history of refined architecture, castles, palaces and gardens. We will see major landmarks and enjoy its stylish cafe culture

On day 3 we move to a tranquil retreat in the countryside and the hills of Barolo, where we will be immersed in hilltop views and Medieval cobbled streets.

We will complete the week with a visit to the White Truffle Fair in Alba!

This experience is not just for wine enthusiasts although you will go home more of an expert than you arrived! We will explore the best that Barolo and Langhe have to offer and delve deeper into the understanding of this rich terroir that produces Italy’s most prestigious wines, cheese and truffles. We will meet some of the leading female pioneers who have broken into a formerly male dominated world with great success.

We will hunt truffles with the area’s only female truffle hunter and enjoy other artisanal experiences led by women.

MEET OUR WINE & TRAVEL SPECIALIST

A woman with curly red hair and sunglasses stands in a vineyard, holding a glass of red wine and smelling it. She wears a light blouse and dark pants, with a scenic vineyard background.

Valerie Quintanilla, Piedmont Travel Specialist

Valerie Quintanilla traded the Rockies for the Alps when she left Denver for a life among the vines in Barolo. What started as a wine-soaked hobby (and a cheeky expat blog) turned into a full-time gig designing custom travel experiences across Italy—with Piedmont as her home base and wine as her compass.

Since 2013, Valerie’s been connecting curious travelers with the people, places, and flavors that make Italy unforgettable. From garage winemakers and goat cheese producers to Michelin-starred chefs, she curates the kinds of stories and moments that go far beyond the guidebooks.

Equal parts wine nerd and logistics queen, she’s your insider for all things delicious, local, and off-the-radar—and probably the reason you’ll want to come back to Italy again (and again).
